How much does shipping cost?

 

If you live in CT, ME, MA, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VT

Pre-measured service includes free shipping.  However, if you add additional items that require another shipping box there will be a shipping charge.  If the extra items fit in the pre-measured box the shipping is still free.

    How does the food arrive when shipped? 

    The food is shipped frozen in an insulated, recyclable expanded Polystyrene foam cooler with dry ice and ice packs. Plentiful dry ice ensures that your food remains sufficiently frozen during transit. The dry ice may have dissipated by the time you receive your order, but the temperature controlled container will stay cool. Even if the food arrives partially thawed or refrigerator temperature, it is perfectly safe to refreeze and does not affect the quality or safety of the product.

    Can I return the cooler for a credit? 

    We do not accept coolers back for credit as too many are returned damaged and unusable. But, we do recommend you recycle or reuse them.

    How many days notice do I need to give for new orders?

    10 - 14 days for shipments. Depending on product availability it may take longer to fulfill orders.

    What is the best day to place an order?

    Orders placed on Mondays and Tuesdays will ship the following week. It is best to place orders on Mondays and Tuesdays. Orders placed on Wednesdays - Sundays will ship in 2 weeks from when they are placed.

    How often do you deliver the food?

    We ship weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays depending on your location.

    When will you deliver to me?

    Refer to the color coded map above for transit times. For example, if your food ships on a Monday and you are listed with a 3 days transit time it will arrive Thursday. If your food ships on Monday and are listed with a 2 day transit time it will arrive Wednesday. The food normally takes 2 weeks to get to your door from when you place the order, but it may take a bit longer depending on product availability. 

    Will you send me tracking info once my package ships?

    You will receive tracking information sent to the email you provide. Make sure you give us an email that you use and check regularly so the information can reach you. We will not use your email or telephone number for anything other than providing info about your order so make sure that you give us valid contact information. NOTE: If you provide the wrong shipping address and need us to change it in transit, you will be responsible for all extra fees charged from FedEx. There will also be a delay when you change the shipping address after the package is in transit. That means the food will be traveling for a longer time than we initially packaged it for. Again, we are not responsible for the food if it is no longer good due to providing us with the incorrect shipping address thus increasing its time in transit. Do remember that even if the food is thawed, but still refrigerator temperature, it is still good and can safely be refrozen and thawed again without affecting the product. Make sure you check the transit time for your package as some packages will be delivered on Saturday. If you have given your work address for delivery and your package is scheduled to be delivered on a Saturday, make sure you enter an address where you will be. We are not responsible for packages that have been rerouted due to incorrect addresses given.

    Do I have to be home at the time of delivery?

    No. Even if you are home FedEx will leave the package at your door. We do not require signature for our deliveries to ensure that FedEx does not take the package back with them on the truck where it would sit in a non-temperature controlled environment, increasing the chance of damaging the perishable contents. Make sure you are home to bring the package in during the hot summer months. You will receive tracking information so you can follow the package in transit, thus you will know when it is delivered to you. That means you will be able to get it into a freezer or refrigerator right away.

    Is there a minimum order for shipments?

    There is no minimum order requirement for shipments. 1 cooler can hold up to 50 lbs. Shipping is free for orders of 30 lbs and above for ME, NH, VT, MA, NY, RI, CT, NJ, PA. Shipping is free when you order in 50 lb increments for the remainder of the states.

    Is pick-up available?

    If you prefer to pick up the food, because you do not meet the minimum order for free delivery, you need the food sooner than the next available delivery date, or if you are going to be in the area, we do offer pick-up by appointment only. Pick-up is in Alfred, Maine. When you place your order there is a section to add a note about your order. Enter that you want to schedule an appointment to pick up your order.
